Comment 2
Honestly, it feels quite unsafe, especially after dark. The crossings are genuinely dangerous.
Trafiksäkerhet och hastighetCritical
Comment 3
Drivers often turn into the road without looking for pedestrians, and the street lighting simply stops halfway along my route.
Gång- och cykelvägarCritical
Comment 4
It limits me quite a bit. I feel quite tense walking back after an evening shift at Arlanda, and I hesitate to go out after dark unless I really have to.
Trafiksäkerhet och hastighetCritical
Comment 5
I would actually prefer to cycle for local trips and errands, but right now it doesn't feel safe enough to try. I would definitely use a cycleway if a proper, secure one existed.
Gång- och cykelvägarPositive
Comment 6
It is mainly the speed of the cars and the lack of clear separation between vehicles and people.
Trafiksäkerhet och hastighetCritical
Comment 7
At the intersections, drivers seem focused only on finding a gap in car traffic, so when they turn, they don't check for pedestrians stepping off the curb.
Trafiksäkerhet och hastighetCritical
Comment 8
There are also no dedicated lanes for bikes or clear pedestrian zones, which makes the whole flow very unpredictable.
Gång- och cykelvägarCritical
Comment 9
First, I would really like continuous, bright lighting along the entire pedestrian route, not just parts of it.
Gång- och cykelvägarPositive
Comment 10
Second, having a properly separated cycleway and footpath that keeps bikes and walkers away from the car lanes would make a massive difference.

Comment 12
The most critical one is the intersection where Stationsgatan connects with the main road, Road 263, and also the crossings right around the station approach where buses and cars turn constantly.
Trafiksäkerhet och hastighetCritical
Comment 13
That junction with the main road is where turning cars move the fastest and where the visibility drops off the most, especially with the poor lighting right around there.
Trafiksäkerhet och hastighetCritical
Comment 14
I need to know that I can walk or cycle home late at night in the winter without worrying about distracted drivers or unlit stretches of road.

Comment 15
Physical separation from car traffic and consistent lighting from the station all the way to my door would make the biggest practical difference to my daily routine.
Gång- och cykelvägarPositive
Comment 16
If the crossings are made safer and the whole path is clearly lit and separated from cars, it would solve the major problems I face every day.

Comment 17
Traffic safety and being able to get around easily on foot and by bike are definitely my biggest priorities.

Interviewer
Hello. Thank you for sharing your views on Road 263 through Märsta – traffic safety and accessibility improvements. The conversation takes about ten minutes. I will ask about how you use the area and what matters to you. You can skip questions and finish whenever you like. Before anything is submitted, you will see a summary that you can change. To start, tell me a little: what is your connection to the area around the road? Do you live here, work here, or pass through on your way somewhere else?
Resident
Hello. Yes, I live right on Stationsgatan, renting an apartment there, and I work as a systems engineer out at Arlanda. Because I don't own a car, I walk everywhere around this area every day to get to the station, run errands, and get back home.
Interviewer
How do you experience walking along Stationsgatan and across the road on your way to the station?
Resident
Honestly, it feels quite unsafe, especially after dark. The crossings are genuinely dangerous. Drivers often turn into the road without looking for pedestrians, and the street lighting simply stops halfway along my route. In the winter evenings, it gets completely dark and visibility is very poor, so I have to be extremely cautious every single day just walking to and from the station.
Interviewer
You walk along Stationsgatan and cross the road daily, and you experience the route as unsafe and dark, particularly during winter evenings. How does the current situation with traffic and the road affect your daily life and your ability to move around Märsta?
Resident
It limits me quite a bit. I feel quite tense walking back after an evening shift at Arlanda, and I hesitate to go out after dark unless I really have to. I would actually prefer to cycle for local trips and errands, but right now it doesn't feel safe enough to try. I would definitely use a cycleway if a proper, secure one existed. Is there a plan for lighting along the new path?
Interviewer
I don't know, but I will pass the question on to the project. What else affects your ability to move around the area safely?
Resident
It is mainly the speed of the cars and the lack of clear separation between vehicles and people. At the intersections, drivers seem focused only on finding a gap in car traffic, so when they turn, they don't check for pedestrians stepping off the curb. There are also no dedicated lanes for bikes or clear pedestrian zones, which makes the whole flow very unpredictable.
Interviewer
You live on Stationsgatan, walk to the station every day, and find that high vehicle speeds and missing separations limit your movement and make cycling feel unsafe. What suggestions and wishes do you have for the measures along the road?
Resident
First, I would really like continuous, bright lighting along the entire pedestrian route, not just parts of it. Second, having a properly separated cycleway and footpath that keeps bikes and walkers away from the car lanes would make a massive difference. And finally, the crossings themselves need to be safer—perhaps with raised pedestrian crossings or better traffic signals that force turning drivers to slow down and actually look before making a turn.
Interviewer
At what specific crossings along Stationsgatan do you feel that raised crossings or better signals would make the biggest difference?
Resident
The most critical one is the intersection where Stationsgatan connects with the main road, Road 263, and also the crossings right around the station approach where buses and cars turn constantly. That junction with the main road is where turning cars move the fastest and where the visibility drops off the most, especially with the poor lighting right around there.
Interviewer
You have suggested better lighting, a separated cycleway and footpath, and safer crossings with raised designs or signals, particularly at the intersection with Road 263 and the station approach. What matters most to you for these measures to work well in your daily life?
Resident
For me, it comes down to reliability and basic personal safety at all hours. Because of my shifts at Arlanda, I need to know that I can walk or cycle home late at night in the winter without worrying about distracted drivers or unlit stretches of road. Physical separation from car traffic and consistent lighting from the station all the way to my door would make the biggest practical difference to my daily routine.
Interviewer
You mentioned that you need physical separation from car traffic and consistent lighting all the way from the station to your door to feel safe during late shifts. Is there anything else you would like to add about what matters most for these measures?
Resident
No, I think that really covers the main points for me. If the crossings are made safer and the whole path is clearly lit and separated from cars, it would solve the major problems I face every day. Thank you for taking this into account.
Interviewer
Many people living along the road bring up things like noise, traffic safety, or getting around on foot and by bike. Does any of that matter to you too, or are you done?
Resident
Traffic safety and being able to get around easily on foot and by bike are definitely my biggest priorities. I don't have anything else to add beyond what we discussed, so I am all done. Thank you.
